Please no oil wars now... ... ... ... ... .

Is anyone running this stuff?

I saw an excellent deal in JC Whitney on this. $6. 59 a qt.

How do you like it? Will I need to add friction modifier?

Should I get 75w-90 or 85w-140?

I do tow, but not often. Whenever I do tow, it's very hot out.

31' TT @ about 7000 lbs.

We're running the 85W-140 Royal Purple Synthetic in the truck's Dana 80 - we tow a 13,500 lb 5th wheel in Texas summer conditions. It works great - no supplemental friction modifier was required for our limited slip since it's blended in. YMMV.

I've run the 85W-140 in the rear end and their "MaxGear" in the NV4500 for over 40,000 in my last truck. I sold it to my brother-in-law who's put over 28,000 more on it and no problems so far.

I'm going to run it in my current truck as soon as I get time to change out the lube.

I've ben running it for several years in 4x4s, boats, and motorcycles (HD) and am very impressed

I am anal about changing fluids and tend to do more than less. My jeep has a LSD and I added the friction modifier before noticing that it is supposedly blended in already.

No itt results, seems to lock up when it should and release when it should.

I'll run it exclusively in the CTD, ask me again next year.

Will check JC for price, I get it from Jegs.

Thanks guys, I think I'm getting it.

Part # in the sales circular is:

75W-90 ALE484979N

85W-140 ALE484980T

I dont think you'll get this price unless you use this number.

Eric

BTW all the other types of oil that they carry by R. P. is on sale real reasonable also.

That's a GOOD price. I've used Maxgear 75w90, 75w140 and 85w140. My diff has always run hot even after new bearings and meticulous setup. The 85w140 has been the coolest running. I change every 10-12k miles. The 85w140 doesn't need modifier at first but could stand a little towards the end. These are the cSt@40C indexes for the 3 Maxgear lubes - complements of Redram:

75w90 - 130

75w140 - 237

85w140 - 325

I checked that site. I put 5 gal of 85w140 into the cart and the price came up $103 - $5 cheaper than the product list showed. I little extra bonus! Craig

$5. 15 a quart. What a deal. They are great people to work with and outstanding customer service if you should ever need it.
