I am thinking about changing the oil in my '99 to Royal Purple.

I have 108,000 miles on Rotella changes using Fleetguard filters.

I would like to know the pros amd cons using Royal Purple as my lubricants.

The only real con to the RP is cost. There's a small chance of leaks developing from the oil cleaning out the "false seals" caused by gunk.

Rotella has a lot of detergents in it, so it shouldn't have the leakage issue.

RP is a very fine oil and I think you will like it.

I used rotella in my 96. Seemed to work great. Is there a better oil to use in a new CTD starting at first change? What would you use if you wanted maximum life span from the engine? What oil does the factoy ship in the new engines?

I have used Rotella for many years never had a oil related problem. i guess i;am saying why change horses in mid stream Just my opinion.

There's probably nothing wrong with what you're doing but I'm having excellent results with RP, Oilguard bypass, 3894 and extended changes. I've had better luck (quality) with smaller lube mfgrs (like RP) in ~20 yrs of industrial maintenance. RP syn even cured my power steering growling. No oil leaks anywhere. Many NAPAs have RP. Craig
