One better than the other? I'm doing all my fluids (diffs, tran. and tcase) this weekend. I've narrowed it down between these two brands.

I would use Redline in all the driveline stuff and RP in the engine... .....

I have used the Redline oil, and while the engine was VERy happy with it (2psi more boost, 1. 5 mpg increase), I just had to balk the next time at the going rate of $28-$30 a gallon!!

I am using the PB extreme now until I decide for sure whether to go dino or syn... .

Personally I like the Royal Purple, but both are very good oils. If you are torn between the two I would use the one that is less expensive and easier to get.

Both good products - RP 15W40 is API licensed CI-4/SL whereas the Redline product is not.

Might sway you to use the API Licensed product as you have a 2001 and probably still in warranty - meaning that RP can provide a paper trail if your dealer wants to be difficult.

I just put Redline MT-90 in my NV4500 and I am VERY impressed. Shifting is noticibly smoother than the factory fill Castrol Syntorq. Most people who have made this switch did not notice any change. I did, and am glad I went with the MT-90. ;) I saved a good amount of money too!

I put RP in the front and rear diffs. about 10,000 miles ago. no problems. I used the mopar fluid fir the transfer case. That cost $27/gal from the dealer.
