Regular RP vs. Long Rider?

I was thinking about changing the fluids in the front and back

differentials and wanted to know if anyone has used Royal

Purple synthetic for this purpose? Good/Bad or ?

Thanks,

Lowell:)

Welcome Aboard!

I ran Royal Purple MAX ATF in 1996 Auto and also ran the Max Gear 75-90w in the rearend. I was pretty happy with it, had no problems at all. I saw about a 30* drop in temps too ;) . I still have 6 quarts of Gear oil (85-140w) left from the 96 if you are interested, let me know. I bought a new truck and am using something else in the rear. Royal Purple is not quite as easy to get but it is good stuff. I got mine HERE most of the time- they have good prices and service.

The RP 15w40 is doing great with ext. service and analysis. The Maxgear 75w140 is also doing really well. Someone posted some test results recently. RP Maxgear was rated one of the highest against other gear lubes and also best price. RP was'nt one of the engine oils in that test but I already know how good it is! Their site shows dealers. I have Royal Purple SynchroMax in the transmission and whatever their 75-140 is in the rear end. No complaints so far, been using them for about 10k

I use dino oils myself but in a lot of trade magazines I read Royal Purple is always one of the top rated synthetics used in industrial applications.

I'm running the 75-140 gear lube in the rear diff. Still had to put in some limited slip additive as the new limited slip wanted to chatter some. I had the rear end rebuilt and ran dino for a couple thousand miles then switched over. Works well so far.

Also have the 15-40 engine oil. Been running it for about 3 years. Recently installed a single Amsoil bypass. The first oil analysis came back with no problems. That was at 10K miles. Before I put the bypass filter on, usually changed the oil at about 12 K. they said run it 25K but I just had a problem doing that without a bypass setup. Will run it now until a problem starts to show in the oil or I feel its time for fresh oil just because!:)

Royal Purple 85W-140 synthetic in rear differential (we tow heavy 21,180 GCW versus 21,500 GCWR). No additional friction modifier needed. Working great! :D

A TDR member from Colorado who is over the Forest service Fleet vehicles for their District has had better oil analysis with Royal Purple than any other. I spoke with him on the phone over a year ago to help him get started with his KDP fix.

He has the money to test and try out all kinds of oils and filters. I forget his name... are you still here?

From what I've read and from what he's found and also been told, it's GREAT oil.

I'm currently using Amsoil in everything because it's more available where I live. But I would not hesitate to use Royal Purple.

Thumbs up!

Thanks for the link Dkevdog.

I placed an order with them yesterday for a "case" (qty. 6) of Royal Purple synthetic power steering fluid.

In all the years I've run high quality synthetic lubricants (over 24 years now), I have never tried Royal Purple... yet.

As soon as it arrives, I'll change the power steering system over to it through a series of fluid removal extractions with my new pneumatic fluid extraction system from Griot's Garage.

... sounds like fun! :D

Pneumatic fluid extraction system... Good thing you said what it's used for. Sounds like something a proctologist would use. :D
