Greetings all,my wife went to Costco and I asked her to pick up a case of Delo and she came home with the RPM Delo CJ-4 is that ok for our 2nd. gen. 5. 9 (2001).

The CJ-4 spec supercedes the CI-4 and CI-4+ and is the latest spec for the new Tier 3 diesels. According to the API and oil companies, the spec is backward compatable, so it would be OK for your 2001. In reality, some additives have been cut back in the CJ-4 oils so that they won't contribute to emissions, plug the particulate filter, etc. Therefore, some individuals prefer to run CI-4 or CI-4+ oils as long as they can be found.



Your choice, but the CJ-4 Delo is OK.

It's backwards compatable for the older trucks. Should be fine. I was at Costco a week ago and they still had the CI-4 type. I paid $59. 35 OTD for that. Just curious what the new stuff is going for?
