bflood,
What I was trying to say was that in 'near' stock trim I did not see high temps.
With 3. 5" exhaust (cheaper at that time) K&N, timing @13. 5*, very small starwheel increase I would see about 800*F @2450 RPM/18psi, in OD.
This was with an 8' 6" camper loaded for 2 weeks, plus utility trailer weighing about 1600 lbs.
When I went to the 185's I saw temps go up. I had the timing advanced a bit and that helped reduce them. Then, put in K&N and that helped reduce them a bit, but... alas, I also added more fuel which ... you know . . up they went.
Then went to the 16cm housing and that helped a bit.
Then put in the POD's and HOLY COW !!!! UP THEY WENT !!
Then more timing advance and that helped bring em down.
So after all that, countless hours 'tweaking and tiddling' I now run max temps of approx. 1050 - 1100*F hard pull in OD up a decent grade (empty. )
I'm also getting about 17. 8 MPG around town, light-light stuff which aint too bad.
Bob.
