Hey guys just bought a new (used) 2001 2500 ctd 5-speed and it supposidly has 355 rears but it tachs 2200 at 70 mph my 02 tachs 1900 at 70 what gears would this sound closer too?

Check the data tag on the underside of the hood, tag on the differential cover or glovebox. If none of that is available call dealer (usually parts counter guy is more apt to take the time than the service folks) give vin and they should be able to tell you over the phone. Ask if it's an LSD or open end as you want to be sure if you need the gear lube additive.
 
on 235/85/16"s my 5 speed/4. 10 truck does 2200 at 70 give or take a little due to speedo/tach error, mathmaticly 2200 rpm with a 5 speeds overdrive ratio my tire size and 4. 10s, 2200 is right at 70
