Hi , when the truck Is idleing, the needle on the rpm goes up and down, about 1-300 rpms is this normal (Its been doing It for a while)

Also, about this lift pump, looking at my sig, what should I do just keep going with the stock lift pumps, or something else I have not had to relace mine yet (74000) but I don't want to be stranded somewhere, Ive read post on the lift pump, but I did not see any facts of why one was better than the other,, please give me some info that I could make my decision thank you... .

ps I don't have a pressure gauge(I know I should get one but don't want to spend the money on one):)

If you don't want to spend the money on a gauge then why would you want to spend the money on a new fuel system? The cheapest system would be the original! Every fuel system should be monitored whether it is stock or a FASS system. A stock system with a quality gauge is the easiest route and if the gauge tells you the lift pump is bad then you go to Cummins and buy a new one for $150. Have you ever checked your fuel pressure even with a temporary gauge? Alot of trucks have run many miles with a bad lift pump. For $300 you can have a brand new lift pump as a spare and a pressure gauge, I don't think you'll buy any aftermarket fuel system for that kind of money.

Forgot about your original question, mine did that two years ago during hotter weather and has never done it since. Could be the cam position sensor or a bad injector but I've never found anything definitive and my problems never came back.

Thanks turbo tim, but you did not answer my question? so the question still remains on the second part, which is the best one to go with F. A. A. S Etc, or would I be fine Just with the wildcat stuff(sorry I don't know what It Is called) something to do with banjo's and bigger lines I really don't know what Im talking about any help would be Great!!
