The Right trailer light stays on even when the truck is turned off. The truck tail light is off. The turn signal on the right of the trailer also will not work. I get the same result using the bumper connector of the 4 pin connector under the bumper. Thanks fo any help.
i can think of two possibilities hook a test light up to the four pin plug right trailer light pin this should be the pin next to the ground pin. with the trailer not connected if it still lights it is in the truck. next find the fuse that feeds the full time hot to the 7 pin plug and pull it. if the light go's out it is corrosion in the 7 pin plug but most likely the the light will stay on. the problem will be in the pcm both undersize wiring and corrosion plague this model. it takes some skill and electronic knowledge to repair in reading your post you will probably be better off replacing it. after replacing pm me for a circuit to remove the trailer load from the pcm
i got to thinking last night i think the panel on the 04 is called the foreward controll module or fcm instead of pcm. but it is the one with the relays and fuses
Thanks for the help. I will try your suggestion tonight provided I get my truck back from the transmission shop. I also had a problem with the brake light staying on because the pedal didn't come up all the way. The transmission shop thinks this may have caused my transmission to mess up.
Push the pedal down and hold it, next push the brake light switch in as far as it will go, now release the brake pedal and allow it to push the switch back. That's about it.
I had the same problem. Try removing the power steering fill cap. The cap sometimes doesn't vent properly, allowing the hydro-boost brake system to build pressure. Search for my post on power steering fill cap mod.

My brakelights stayed on as well once and I "manually adjusted" the metal bracket that holds the brake light switch. This did the trick - its been two years since with no issues.
