Just got back from a 10-day road trip. Sorry I missed the get together at massdiesels. In catching up on reading the posts I missed while I was gone, I ran across one from rrausch that needed a reply.
Question: Are most of the original KDP jigs in circulation?
Answer: Yes, thanks to some "good detectives", all but two are being circulated.
Question: Is this something that has worked well?
Answer: Basically, the process has worked fairly well with the assistance of helpful TDR members. One of the reasons I did this is because most of the trucks that have this problem are out of warranty. The cost of the damage that can be done by the pin is not limited to just the $2000 for the actual repair, but includes other associated costs and inconvenience. Were you on vacation? Far from Home? Did you have to wait for parts? Did you have to miss work? All these things contribute to the overall cost. I designed the jig to keep this from happening to me and was glad to help give others the same peace of mind.
Question: Are most people sending a contribution?
Answer: I don't really know. Some are--more in the last couple of months. In the beginning there were only a few. The first ones I received I used to make the fan wrenches to add to the kits. If I end up getting enough to cover the cost of the materials, I would call that a success.
Question: Would I do it again?
Answer: You bet. In a heartbeat.
Many thanks to all who have made a contribution--either monetary or otherwise. Without everyone's help this would not have worked as well as it has.
