Can any of you Alabama boys tell me about rte 77 from I-59 to I-20? I'm goin to Talladega for the race. This is my third trip and we always used to go down from Gasden through Anniston on 431 but that road will beat your guts out its so rough. 77 will drop me in right at the exit for the track. We will be breezing through about 4-5 am. I just dont want a bunch of stop and go stuff.

Thanks

Rt. 77 is mostly 2-lane. Scenic, not too bad and is a lot faster than 431. Becareful going into Southside Alabama. Speedtrap.

In our 1999 trip to the worlds fastest track we camped at the Dogwood campground in Lincoln Alabama. No complaints. Not fancy. The Jacks hamburgers has a great breakfast. Grits are good!

Chris have you been to this track before?

That's my favorite route to get home after the race, the sunset over the Coosa River valley is breathtaking..... 77 is a good road.

I wish I still lived in Birmingham, I miss the motorsports, the climate, everything !

Yeah this is our third trip to talladega. We camp right across from the track (the zoo):D Gets pretty wild. Its my favorite track to go to. Our seats are great. Way up high dead center in the tri-oval. Just like watching on tv, we can see everything. I dont care for the 15 1/2 hour ride, but with the cummins pullin the camper it makes it more enjoyable. We will leave on Thursday about 2 pm. Get there about 5:30 am friday. Get a little rest then head to the dirt track to watch the outlaws run:cool: We leave monday morning about 7 am.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll try that. There is no quick way to get there after getting off 59 but anythings gotta be better than that ride through anniston.
