Rubber Tilt Steering Lever Removal

I'm in the process of removing the dash on my 04 to replace the blend doors and have come across a problem removing the rubber from the lever that adjusts the steering wheel. A video says pull it off but I hav been tugging on it with no results and I don't want to ruin the part if there is a screw or something to remove to get it off. Anyone been there before and done this? I cannot see anything holding it but it's a solid piece and difficult to see. Need to remove it to get the bottom clamshell piece off so that I can get to the nuts and screws that attach to steering column.

Pull towards the steering wheel, it will come of. If it was never off it is a hard pull.
Pulled mine several times.

Thanks. I'll give it try. Just came in from tree trimming and popped my first adult beverage. Just for strength of course.

IIRC it pulls towards the rear of the truck.

You have to sort of twist it in the direction of the lever, and in the axial direction of the shaft.
