Need new axles

AC not working

Why do those rubber window seals pull away from the frame? Do they shrink and pull out?

I just got the Lance out of the barn and on 3 windows it has pulled out.

I tried to push back in but they don't stay.

So, do I need to pull them all the way out and put new rubber in? What is the best, easiest, way to do this?

I don't understand what seals you are referring to. Is this on the outside or inside of the window? Do you have double pane windows?

My Lance is a 2003 and I will look at mine tomorrow and see if I can figure out which seals.

I finally had time to look at my Lance. I found rubber like seals on the outside of the non-opening portion of the two windows on the cabover by the bed and on the non opening portion of the sliding window in the kitchen. From looking at the seal, it looks like they seal (water proof) the glass to the metal window frame. I checked mine and they are tight. I don't know how these seals are installed or what holds them in place. I don't see any type of glue residue on the seals.

You might try giving Lance Customer Service a call.

Edit: I have a Lance owner friend in FL who has done quite a bit of work on his '01 Lance. I'll send him an e-mail asking what needs to be done. Give me a couple of days to reply since he may be out of town.

Jeepit,

Play around with this link a bit. Those are probably a Hehr window.

Troll around the camper section and see if you can identify the style. If you do then you should be able to go into the replacement parts section and see if that strip is available.

There are also contact links in the replacement parts section if you wanted to contact Hehr directly.

Maybe your windows are a different brand, but these Hehr units look like the windows that I have seen on Lance campers.

Here is the answer I received from my Lance owner friend in FL:

"I removed both the side window and the front window. There is nothing there but the glass, rubber seal, bezel and some geocell caulk. The bezel screws go into the window frame to keep it tight. It is like a ham sandwich but easier to make. If the glass has separated from the rubber, I would suggest ordering new rubber and geocell from Lance. "

Jeepit, make sure when you put the new one in that you leave it longer and force it in leaving slack for expansion. Also, where the two ends join, bond the edges together with a quality rubber adhesive.

Good call CrazyHorse.

I plan on giving it another try to get the corners in questions in place, though I doubt it will work.

Lance said to try and lube with liquid soap to help it ease it into place. On one window it may work since it is not pulled away too far.

On the others I believe I will need to totally replace the rubber seal. #@$%!

I have seen what I think you are referring to on older campers and it expands and contracts a lot in the heat/cold. If you seal the ends up tight and make a perfect fit it will buckle in the heat. May not be the same material as you are referring to but something to consider.
