A friend of mine called today. His father has a CTD and was doing routine maintenance on it. Don't know the year model.

He pulled the K&N air filter out of the stock box and washed it in white gas. Don't know how dry he made it before he oiled the K&N filter, but... ..... when he started the CTD up to check for oil leaks, it ran away and threw the rods out the bottom of the oil pan.

Had the friend call his father back and to make sure that K&N is gone, gone and an OEM filter back in the box. However, I don't think it will make it past warranty anyway??

The problem wasn't the K&N. Basically he didn't want to pay $15 for the K&N kit to clean and re-oil his filter properly so now he's out an engine.

Yes, I am sure that was the case. I don't even know if he used the correct K&N oil or something else.

Back when I used to use K&N (before I knew better), I would set it up and let it drain overnight before using it.

I hope the dealer denies this warranty claim. This is not a manufacture problem, therefore the truck owner should be eating this bill. He caused his own issue.
