I was wondering if any one had running boards like these http://www.toughcountry.com/dodge/pages/11_dodge_jpg.htm and what brands you have and approximate price? I know that there are a lot of different types like chrome or SS but am more interested in the black like in the web link above. Also how are the ones you have mounted? The one in the picture require no welding or drilling holes in the truck frame they mount to the cab mounts. I would prefer not to weld or drill holes in the frame. I do knot want to start a war about welding or not welding to the frame. These would go on the 05 in my signature. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I hope the link works this is the first time that I am posting with a link.

I have a pair of Dee Zee FX running boards on my 05, They are black and I like love them, better then nerf bars on my 03 HEMI I had. What I like about running boards on these new trucks is they halp keep all the mud and crap from getting packed in between the door and the weather stripping on the bottom. There are pics in my gallery and you can also get the piece that goes all the way back to the rear wheel if you want, I opted to just go to the back of the cab. You do have to drill a couple small holes in the rocker panel on the very bottom, but nothing in the frame. Mounting was very easy and a clean fit. I think I paid around $250 for the set, but I got a bit of a discount where I bought them.

Hope this helps

also have Dee Dee on my 2 wd. have the whole set . they are black powder coat. cost in canada 650. 00 plus 14 % tax. cost 300. 00 to install. ton of brackets, but they will never fall off. I really like them ,but pricy.

I have the Tough Country boards in black. I have a SRW truck and they go wheel to wheel. I can stand on the far back edge of them, with no problems. They bolted right up, but I had to grind down some clips that were a little too big to fit in the holes under the cab. Not a problem, even with that, it only took about 20 minutes to install.

Thanks for all the reply's I have ordered the tough country running boards and will try to take some pictures and let you know how the install goes.

Larry,

How'd it go?

I decided on the Rough Country boards as well. I installed them last weekend without a hitch. I tried the steps after just using the cab mounts, but they moved too much, so I put the brackets on. I didn't want to drill the sheet metal, but it makes such a big difference.

The only problem I had during the whole process was the way rough country packaged the boards for shipping. When I spend that much money on a product, I expect it to show up on my doorstep looking brand new. Is that so much to ask? Basically, the boards were wrapped in a good quality paper, stacked together, then wrapped with a piece of cardboard. The mounting points were sticking out with no protection on them. Guess what they looked like when they made it from Texas to Ohio?

Of course, there's plausible deniability on both the part of rough country and FedEx, so what am I to do? Being from up north, where our state mineral is road salt, I would prefer powdercoating to Rustoleum, but that's what I have now. Just as a comparison, I received my new rear bumper today, and it was expertly packaged. It too arrived via FedEx, but was in flawless condition. It had plenty of wrapping around it, and was completely encased by a heavy cardboard box. I do like my boards though, don't get me wrong there.

Personally, if I didn't already have nerf bars and was looking to put something on, I'd consider these . However, they are pretty pricey. But I've seen them in action up close and they are really cool!

Udaloy,

I just got around to installing them yesterday after they laid in the garage for two weeks. Mine were wrapped in a blue cloth type material and then wrapped with paper, but the mounted points still had torn through the blue cloth and paper. But they did not send some washers and nuts for the brackets. I called Tough Country and they told me that they were sorry but did not offer to send any. I am with you, the boards with out the brackets flexed too much. But I just pulled off the piece of black tape on the underside of the rocker panel that Dodge put on there to cover the holes, and inserted the bolt with the metal piece welded to it to make a wing into that slot. I did not have to drill or weld anything. That stiffened the boards up. I like the boards very much, it is nice to hear majority of the rocks from the tires hitting the underside of the boards instead of rockerpanels. I will try to get some pictures and post them later.
