I just burned out my running lights and, thanks to info on the forum, I tracked it down to the switch. I now want to install a relay as some of you did. I ended up, after spending a long time upside down, with a sore neck and a real nice relay circuit on my dash lights!!!%^$$#.

I need help! Is there a place to get to the running lights circuit under the hood? If so, how do I find it?

I just added a realy to one that was having the burnt up switch problem. Three new switches in the last year. His problem was the added load of the running lights on the stock trailer that is permanently attached. I cut the running light wire behind the trailer plug and put the relay there. It doesn't relieve the lighting load of the truck from the switch, only the trailer but no problems since.

After my nice story i guess I can't answer your question. Sorry. :confused:

Good idea

Scott;

I thought of doing that after an hour of torture under the dash - sounds like it works OK - I think my problem is the increased load from the horse trailer. Did you run a new wire from the battery back to the connector?

No I tapped into the aux power wire that was already in the light plug for the power. That should be a fused power source worthy of at least 20 amps. I simply used that wire to provide the power and used the running light wire to activate it. It's setup more like a switch than a relay.
