My running lights have been shorting out, and I am wondering if there is a recall or anyone else out there who may have this problem.
Thanks,
Russell

Russell I've burned up two light switches and on both the terminals for the running lights looked the worst. I'd pull your switch out and check to see if there is signs of over heating. On mine the fuse never did blow so you might have a different problem.

Thanks Gene, that is the next step, but tommorrow the truck goes to the local Dodge dealer to have the power window fixed, so I might just add this to their to-do list. This truck had this problem when I bought it, and it was "fixed" for inspection, so square-one again.

You might want to check the wiring harness coming out the firewall. On mine which is a early 91 there is a second wiring harness for the lights and turn signals. Mine was burned through at the firewall do to over loading by a 40 foot trailer lights(by a previous owner). To prevent this from happening again I installed a light relay on my 5th wheel, so that the truck's light system(brake/turn/running lighs) never feels the load from the 5th wheel or boat trailer(I run a tandem rig truck/camper/boat). Of course, don't forget to check you ground circut and fuses #ad

DUMB DUMB DUMB, I just won a $355. 00 five star DC dealership idiot award. {The following is unfortunally not just for humor, it is the truth:-D The other day, I replaced the factory junk fender lights with better aftermarket ones. Low and Behold the ground on these lights happens to NOT be black, so I proceeded to hook things up backwards!!!!!!! Even better was the fact that the lights worked fine when the truck sat still, the fuse only blew when the truck accelerated. Turns out that the little guard for the wires on the inner fender [hot] was touching the mudflap hanger [ground] to produce a short. Yeah I am thrilled to go up there tommorrow to my "friendly dodge dealer" for a truck with the heckle package installed! Hey, seriously folks, who puts a hot wire black? DODGE DIFFERENT :)

Obviously you don't have the Truck-Lites that Dodge uses on the fenders of duallies. They are top quality. I had same problem with overload and ended up running a seperatewire from battery thrrough new fuse block to engine compatement side of firewall connector. Problem solved BUT they sure used an awfully small guage of wire for the running lights. I advise NOT to run your trailer off your taillights, but run a SEPARATE hot wire back to the trailer light connector.

I did have those stock dodge lights, and they were causing their own set of problems because of the previous owner's waterproofing methods, so that is how this whole thing got started. ha ha
