Has anyone had any problems with the stock 48RE with the EDGE J/A either the standard version or the hot version or are most of you guys running this setup have a beefed up transmission?

I have the standard ver. and usually run on level 1 or 2 most of the time sometimes I goto 4 if I need the power but then switch back right away.

I have thought about pricing out a new torque converter, is this necessary based on the level that I use all the time? I have also seen that people like the DTT setup. How is this compared to a ATS setup? I am closer to ATS.

Now you are starting to scare me, I just installed an Edge Juice/Attitude, same truck as you (2500 miles on it) and I run my attitude on level 4 all the time. I was told this would be fine? Any thoughts from guys with more experience with this setup?

When I had the standard version I was in level 3 or 5. More often than not I was in 5 with the low boost fueling on level 5. I happen to like seeing smoke shoot out the stacks so now my TC slips @ about 12% in O/D. Now with the hot juice it slips pretty bad so i'm keeping it on level 1 :( until I beef up my transmission.

When I had the standard Juice/Attitude and stock trans, I normally ran level 3, I did run level 4 at the track with low boost lanches in 2wd. Ran level 5 on the street some just careful with the throttle from dead stop. As long as you use common sense with the standard Juice, you should not hurt anything. Take the slip % on the Attitude monitor with a grain of salt. Seems to detect slip even when there is not any real slip sometimes.

I need to read the instruction book a little more. I have seen the slip goto 0. 4% just running on the stock mode only when I get to about 50mph when it shifts to the top gear and the highest it has gotten is 0. 6% per the menu that shows maximums and that is when running the different levels.

Thats nothing, once you feel the slip than you know you better back down a bit. On mine @ 6% slip you could kinda feel the slip.

Wait until your torque converter starts to go and the whole truck starts shaking under throttle. Now that's not a good feeling. This happened to me so I upgraded :D

I just ordered mine today.

Here is what the manual says:

The remaining power levels are designed to match fueling with any additional upgrades you may have done to your vehicle. Level 3 is as far as you should go on a stock truck and should never be used while towing. Level 3 is designed to take advantage of the built-in safety margins the manufacture needs to add in order to make sure your vehicle can tow at its maximum capacity.

Levels four and five are race levels and are designed to be used with upgraded drive trains. If you have modified your injectors, upgraded the transmission, changed turbos or performed other similar enhancements, levels four and five will match fueling to the additional performance created by these upgrades. On a stock truck, it is possible to overstress the engine and transmission while driving in levels four and five.

You guys running on higher levels are brave or I am just a wus. I can get the boost to set off the warning at 1/4-1/2 throttle in 3 with no weight in the truck. Till I get a turbo and the DTT I am 3 or lower. If I use the onbord 1/4 mile timer the et does not drop on the higher levels,Why stress the trans for no real gains. I will be on the strip this wk-end to confirm that. :)

My boost hits 38psi in level 1 with the Hot version. Before with the standard level 5 would hit 34psi at most.

Hot level 1 is how much hp/torque? What kind of temps are you seeing at that level of timing/duration and PSI?

Oops. I'm pretty sure my book doesn't say anything like that. :-laf :D

Edge claims 40hp as level one but I have yet to get it on the dyno. My max boost that I saw on lev. 1 was 38psi and about 1100* egt's.
