Running with a Porsche!

[BIG BOB]

Got on the freeway today, there was a Porsche behind me. The "White Obsession" was up to it's usual trick of leaving big clouds of heavy black smoke. I entered the freeway and changed lanes into the fast (far left) lane, very few vehicles on freeway, cruising about 70 mph. There was 3 lanes headed east. I looked in my rear-view mirror to see the Porsche coming up fast in the far right lane. Nobody in front of us, and the hammer goes down! Because of the speed he had gained before I saw him coming up on me, he had the jump of about 1 1/2 truck lengths. I could not make up the difference, and he could not pull away any more. He kept looking for me in his rear-view mirror, but I wasn't there! We back off at about 120, and I pull up beside him, he gave me a nod. I'm sure he was quite surprised with the "White Obsession".



Wish he would have caught me about 55 mph rather that 70mph, I think it might of been a little different.



I know, I'm probably going to get flamed! But like I said they was no other vehicles on the road, and didn't pass any during this little adventure. Sometime I have to show the real kid I am.

The fastest car i have smoked to date was a VW Jetta. Man, was he suprised, he could barely keep up. The best is when you are travelling in the fast lane and somebody rides your rear thinking you will move over and instead you just floor it and watch there expression in the rear view mirror. They ALWAYS underestimate trucks, ESPECIALLY diesels

these motors may not rev up very fast but man get into the upper gears and that torque really starts to do its job. Many people ride with me and make a comment when i am in 4th gear man this truck really steps out. I always say give me 4th and about 1600rpm's and i can accerelate. I wonder how one of these bombed trucks would compare to other cars acceleration wise from 50mph to 90mph. I wonder if it is close to that of high performace cars.

Hmmm, I know the feeling... I used to have a white Sport ( ) before Bill Kondolay charred it totally black with soot on the way to Timberline Dodge.

They compare very well. Right in the middle of the power band from 60-100, mine has out accelerated some of the late model Camaros, Mustangs, BMW's, and Mercedes (if you want to call these high performance that is ). When the boost is up, it is really a mover.

Funny thing is, if I floor it I CAN'T SEE THEIR EXPRESSION, or their car for that matter

From 50-90 I haven't had ANYONE out accelerate me yet (except other CTD's that are more bombed than me). That's including a guy (early 20's) in a C5 Vette ! You should have seen how hard his girlfriend was laughing!!

On the way home from work today... i stepped on it going about 55 next door to a brand new porsche carrera, i don't think he was fully on it... but he gave me a thumbs up BIG TIME when he saw the smoke billowing out and how fast an old cummins could go!
