Hey guys i have heard of some people actually taking off their OEM air filters and leaving the air filter box on, is this recomended or harmfull to the engine in anyway if running in an area that is not very dusty? Also does anyone know which airfilter from afe is the one for my truck is it the mega cannon? I just want the filter not the complete kit, also if you can give me the part number to the filter i would be most greatfull thank you.

I doubt you'll get anyone to bite on that one! I would never recommend driving without an air filter. Can't help you on the AFE - the Fleetguard # for the 24V is AH19037.

Running without an air cleaner is like introducing dirt and grit to your cylinder walls. It will be like micro particles of dust coating the sleeves. You can expect oil consumption in the future if this experiment is tried. Just shake out an air cleaner that is used for some time and see the debris that falls out on the dirty side. No dust in Waco TX. ?

It will be suicide to your engine. A diesel engine uses much more air than a gasser, due to the inherent way a diesel is built.

... and add sand to the crankcase just to hasten the inevitable.

if you are pullin or draggin then absolutely. No a/f in these applications is good to go. not for street though
