I was surfing the other day and I came across a post on the Cummins Forum by a guy that was talking about his new 2. 65 system on his 07. He mentioned that we was running without the sway bar until Carli's new bar is available. (I am anxiously awaiting this product as well). He said it did fine without it. I'll probably get the Carli unit for the 06 but I was wondering about removing the bar on the 01. It has the first generation KORE single rate spring which are about the stiffest springs available. Also has a ARB bumper no winch. What do you guys think??

Tinman,

Just disconnect one end of the sway bar and give it a try. I suspect that with the stiff springs you won't notice a lot of difference.

I think it has to do with the extreme valving in the 2. 65 bilstein shocks, and not the coil springs.

I ran without any shocks for a few days, and it's astonishing how much the truck with bob up and down with heavy coil springs!!!

The 2. 65s have so much valving built in, that they are somewhat effective at preventing sway as well.

I have the 2. 65 Carli kit, and recently had my sway bar off. However, I chose to re-install it for safety... especially while travelling at speed on the interstate and while towing.

The new Carli sway bar should be released in the next few weeks...

That was my main concern, safety. The stock sway bar is so stiff it's ridiculous. But I won't want to lose control in tight situation on the hwy. I'm sure no sway bar off road would be great. It'd be nice if the Power Wagon swar bar disconnect would work on our trucks.

The 2. 65 and 3. 0 shocks have the capability of controlling on transient manuevers. On the long curves you will get more lean. It takes some time to get used to the feeling on the pavement. Off road it makes a big difference not getting thrown sideways back and forth against the glass in the uneven stuff.

I have stiff springs up front with med valved bilsteins and no sway bar, drives off road and around town okay, but get on a tight two lane road and its hard to go the speed limit comfortably, and for towing i wouldnt do it without a sway bar, i have 8. 5 inch lift coils up front and skyjacker softrides on the rear.

Even though my truck is 2002, I have not had my front sway bar on for over four years, my cross over steering left no room for it. I drive my truck like a sports car and notice nothing.
