The engine is surging bad! I bled each injector and no air was to be found. No water is apparent in the fuel. After bleeding each injector, the engine would run better for a few seconds.

The engine is surging when the engine is warm or cold.

Have not adjusted valves for awhile. Thinking about new injectors. Engine has 212,000 miles.

Any suggestions???

That could possibly be your injectors if they are the original ones... but most likely to be your pump is cutting out,is there any leakes on the backside of the pump at all?---and how much is the pump "tweaked"... . if that full power screw has been turned up alot, for along time, it'll shorten it's life. :(

I bought the truck used with 78,000 miles. To my knowledge, the injectors are the original ones. The pump was already tweaked when I bought it. I will need to check into the leak on the back side of the pump.

Is there a way to tell how much the pump has been tweaked?

tweaked pump

Go check the TST products website for a diagram of the Bosch VE pump,on it you'll see the different screws and components of the pump. print it out, and take it to your truck and find the full power screw on the back{engine side} of the pump. If that looks like the cap has been taken off then it's been monkey'd with. Then see how much of that screw is showing,{remember as Piers says, anything over 2 turns diminishes it's life} of course mine is turned up to 5 or 6. . but i'm just crazy... Haha:D

my truck was doing this just a little at idle only sometimes like going up and down about 750 to 800rpm's not a big deal and it didn't do it all the time, i just ran some diesel treatment through for a couple tanks some stuff from walmart i don't remember what it was called but came in a silver bottle, there is stanadyne don't know where to get it though mayber try em if you haven't already

Thank you for your help. Blew rear wheel cylinder on the way home from work. Wife hit deer with her truck same day. I haven't had a chance to look to the engine problem. Now waiting on bearings to fix rear wheel completely. I will try to get back to engine probelm and response back to you all.

:(

Must have been bad fuel or something sticking in pump. I put in some fuel conditioner and a shot of 2 cycle oil and it quit surging in about 2 miles injector pump still has metal cap on power screw have not had time to take it off and get a better look.

Thanks for the help. :)
