I just bought a 1993, 4wd, 5sp, 1ton Dually. Black Beast.

92k miles.

Has rust under the cab.

I'd like to replace the whole floor, to the cab.

Where can I get some parts, and maybe do it myself?

Does JC Whitney still do that kind of stuff?

They listed parts up to 1992, but not 1993. Does that mean that there was a change at 1992?

Anyway, it had a big black fiberglass toper on it, (nice) and I don't need it. I plan to sell the topper and the bed. I'm building a custom bed. The bed is black, and not perfect, but in reasonably good shape. A little surface rust, but not much.

I also want to add a spare tire carrier, that you crank down. I detest laying on my back to change a tire. Any after market recommends on that? It'd have to be a heavy one!

As far as I know the '92 and '93 models are identical as far as body panels go. I'm not sure why Whitneys only lists up to '92.

Just curious why there is such bad rust on this truck down in Arkansas? Without the winter road salt, I would think the underside would be mostly rust free.

As for the crank down spare carrier, maybe modify a junkyard carrier from a Ford pickup? My '95 F-150 had a nice crank down carrier using a cable and winch setup, and I'm guessing the F-250/F-350's might also.

Truck was a Texas Truck. Someone drove it up north in winter, and FAILED to wash off salt. Bed is near perfect, but the cab had salt left on it. It is very fixable, but a nuisance.

Thx for the ford junkyard idea.

I love junkyards!

IN the south, one has to consider humidity, coupled with mud, dust. That can eat through sheetmetal almost as fast as salt.

Nate- You got a new home for that bed? I may be interested, and can come down and give you a hand with the new one.
