2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Rust pitted rotors?

Has anyone had a problem, when changing brake disc pads of finding that the rotors were pitted with rust ? I had my rotors cut and the pits were still there. Couldn't cut them any more. Had to replace rotors, and this was just my first pad change since I've owned the truck. 43,000 miles

First time I've heard of this except in vehicles that were parked for a long period near the ocean or after driving through winter ice melter.

I had pits in my rotors but they were heat pits, as in blowing metal out of the rotors from the extreme temperatures.
