Rust spots in Amerigard spray in bedliner

Had to have body repairs to bed of my truck which entailed having the bedliner redone in areas. Received truck back from body shop and noticed bed filled with small tiny rust spots not only in flat portions of the bed but everywhere including the tops of the wheel wells. After showing conditions to other body shop people concensus of opinion is that while in body shop someone ground on something close to my truck with a grinder causing hot particles to imbed into the plastic finish. Now the metal particles are rusting. Hard to tell depth of the rust spots. Has anyone experienced this situation and have a solution other than replacing the entire bedliner.

No excuse for that mistake. Bet if you look hard enough you might find metal grindings embedded in the glass Sounds like your body shop has poor quality control.



I would not be happy one bit.

I have had to deal with simular situations on ships where careless people have allowed grinding swarf to hit painted surfaces and "Non-Skid" coatings on decks.

One of the best solutions was to scrub the stains out with "CLR" (Calcium Lime & Rust) cleaner. Use it full strength, but you absolutely must do a test somewhere inconspicuously as it can discolor or fade some finishes.



Apply full strength and scrub with a stiff bristle brush, then let it sit for a few minutes, then thoroughly rinse with cold water. This will usually remove most, if not all of the staining, leaving only the impregnated swarf in the surface finish to deal with. You can let it re-rust and clean it several times until the swarf is gone, or clean everything once and re-seal the surface to prevent the swarf from re-rusting again.



One other suggestion to you, I would very carefully inspect all of the windows on your truck and verify that they have not sprayed grinding swarf onto the glass. It will melt into the glass and the first time you drive on a rainy night you will be in for quite the light show from oncoming vehicle lights, as well as ruin your wiper blades if its in the windshield.

The only way to correct the damaged glass is to replace it.
