I am 300 miles from home in the Poconos for the NASCAR race. Once in you are NOT allowed out. Dumb rule but... Just moved my truck to park it in a different spot and noticed quite a bit of oil on the grass. Crawled underneath and it appears that I have a leak on the bottom of the oil pan coming from what looks like a rust bubble. Dip stick is just below the add oil mark, definitely not oil starved at this moment. I have a friend coming down to the race that is going to bring me a couple gallons of oil but does anyone know of a product (epoxy glue, jb weld etc. ) that can go on the outside of the pan that might help prevent a blowout? Going to get it to the shop Monday asap but I need to limp it home. Thanks for ANY suggestions.

I suggest a patch of JB Weld and the skin from an aluminum can. Probably a few of those at a NASCAR race:-laf

JB 4 Minute weld. It will seal even while the oil is weeping.

Find a fuel tank repair kit. It works on aluminum, plastic, and steel while the fluid is leaking out. We keep a couple of kits on our rescue truck in the fire department. Have used it several times to stop desiel fuel leaks in wrecks.

After unloading the Smarty Jr and putting the stock tires back on, I dropped the truck off at the dealer Monday afternoon. The JB weld didn't stop the leak and I lost a gallon in the 300 mile ride home. The service manager kept asking why I wouldn't pull the truck into the service bay. After he came out to pull the truck in, he saw the large puddle of oil formed in ten minutes of sitting and was very appreciative that I didn't get their nice floor all oiled up. I also mentioned that I was feeling some binding in the steering again (ball joints replaced a year ago). They called me today to say it was done. The oil pan was changed along with all the bolts. Apparently some were rusted right off. Aparently the whole front end was rebuilt as well. Right and left upper and lower ball joints, right and left universal joints, steering dampner, and pitman arm. A steering alignment to top things off. I'm not sure if this is the 08 steering upgrade but I hope these are all updated parts. If someone has the parts and parts numbers of the upgrade I would love to see if these are going to last me a while. What was going to be a $2900 bill was covered by my Chrysler Max Care extended warranty and I walked out spending only my $50 deductible. Now to get the truck back ready to tow again.

The saga apparently continues. I take a look at the dog and he's covered in oil. Look under the truck, there is oil everywhere. I can't find a source. I figure they somehow screwed up on the oil pan gasket so off it went to the dealer this morning. They just called and asked if I added any oil since it was in 500 miles ago and I said no. They say it is overfilled and looks to be blowing out the overflow. Doesn't sound good at all. I mentioned that this could be injectors. Truck runs great. No hard start, no idle issues or anything. The only thing I can see different is lots of black smoke on hard acceleration that clears up but I guess I attributed that to the Smarty Jr (70 HP, default everything else). On stock settings I can still get a little smoke. Am I on the right track with injectors or should I look some place else? Fuel filter changed every 10,000 miles on the nose, air filter the same and fuel from the same 3 stations for the last 5 years (when local, big truck stops when traveling). 80,000 miles, Smarty only on the last 5000.

Update. The dealer can't find anything wrong with the truck. The oil level was fine, but they believe the oil was coming out the breather. They cannot replicate it today and want me to pick it up. They thought that maybe I had towed something heavy with it and blew it out. I told him it has only been 500 highway miles and no significant towing. I'll take it for a car wash and keep a close eye on it. First sign of oil and it's right back there.
Can there be another reason for oil blowing out that I'm missing?
