Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Rusty injection pump ? How to clean?

I got rust around the delivery valves. What could I use besides a lot of elbo grease to clean them? It makes me nervous when I think about pulling them too install the pdr dv's.

Wire brush i guess. . then mebe hit em with some wd40 and wipe em down real good... might want to hit em with some paint instead... i duno. .
