Any one ever put in a replacement RV awning fabric? Got some instruction's dont look to be to difficult. Any tip's thanks BIG( A&E brand)

Are you doing just the fabric or fabric w/roller???

I've done fabric w/roller before, go up top to the awning rail and there will be a screw through the rail both front and rear to keep the awning guide from sliding.

Remove the screw from whichever end will give you the most room, come down and take the rear awning leg and release it from the lower bracket, have your helper do the same at the front awning leg. Slide the awning in the direction you chose when you removed the screw and walk the awning roller/fabric/legs unit out of the rail. Then you can get it to the ground. Reverse the steps to re-install.

Two people works fairly well, three is better.

Putting it back on using three people is a little easier as one person can be up on a step-ladder to guide the awning back into the rail while the other two control the roller and legs.

Is that what you were looking for???

No, I will not go to Montana and change it for you... ... ... ... :-laf

Mike. :)

Dam my plan is spoiled again neither food nor beer nor anything else ? :D

No im just going to replace the fabric. The instructions that came with it seemed a little if ey . But it had PICTURES for the non readers :-laf I took notice that it said DANGER when releasing the torsion spring to use EXTREAM caution about letting go of what ever tool one was using. If that happen it looks like a visit to the ER would be in order.

I think I would still bring it to the ground and then use the arms to help keep things under control while unrolling the giant windowshade.

Maybe beer would do it, I'm warming up to the idea..... :-laf

HOOOOOOOOME Made beeeeeeeer AND IM GETTING PRETTY GOOD AT IT I HAVENT PUKED#ad
in over a week drinking the stuff :-laf I wish you would not have said WARMING up to the idea. It has turned cold here. Op's maybe I shouldn't have said that. By looking at the news sounds the the New England States are getting a jump start on COLD. :D

BN,

I forgot to mention that you also have to unscrew the upper awning brackets both front and rear before you can slide that puppy out of the rail.

That is what I get for trying to type and watch "Modern Family" all at the same time..... :D

Sophia Vergara just distracts me.....

She orders a box of small cheese snacks for Jay, she calls them "Baby Cheeses".

With her accent she winds up ordering a box full of miniature Jesus Christ figures... "Baby Jesus"

I love that show...

Mike. :)

It's pretty much a step by step process. Tensioning the springs is easier using a vice grip to assure against it spinning out of control. And wind it the right direction. Online or printed instructions are fairly clear, especially those with pictures. Having help is crucial.

Ya the thought of working any place else but on the ground isnt going to happen. And help is a must. I was just wondering if anyone had done this and had a few tip's

Hay BIG', when are you going to do this nasty job? towards the end of next week its supposed to get a little better weather. And you can't do it inside? Maybe we can scare up enough bodies to help. Let me know.

(You need to change your location on you aviator)

The offer of the homemade BEER does it for me except for the fact that I would hate to ge somewhere colder than here on a trip... ...

My shop is big enough to do it? I can drive a semi truck and trailer in there and close the doors. Why would I need or want to change the location? Or is that your way of saying that I would need to bring it to UT?:-laf

BN,

I think he means that you need to change the location on your avatar. It only shows MT right now, maybe should put the town on there. Probably wonders how far away from him you might be.

Or he may know of someone in Montana that will trade helping you for BEER... . :D

BigNasty, I have to apologize when I typed this,(brain cloud) I was thinking that it was you that moved to utah. It was another TDR member that relocated here. Any way good luck with your project. I don't drink beer so thats out, and its to cold right now to come your way and help. I do like Mt. though.

Free beer? Free bar-b-q? Montana scenery? I'll be right up ... next summer!

SUMMER!! SUMMER !! It's good now just a different time of the year. It's nice to have a brisk breeze makes your blood flow and let's you know that your ALIVE!!!!! If I wanted the same or near the same I would have stayed in Calif.

The RV awning was not that big of a deal. The instructions that came in the tube that held the replacement fabric had 2 way's of doing it.

(1) Remove one end of the fabric roller from the TT and slide the roller and the fabric out one end ( my thought's also)

(2) Remove both ends of the roller from the TT. Ya have to pull the roller down about a foot away from the TT and block it so as not to roll up. Just a couple blocks of wood worked. release the tension on both ends VERY CARFULLY if the vice grips that I used get away a trip to the dentist would be the next step. Slide the fabric into the roller and roll it up to the same distance as when you took it loose. Then it's a 3 man job to slide it into the rail on the side of the TT. 2 to hold the roller and 1 to feed the fabric into the slide on the side of the TT. Re tension the roller both end's and hook up the supports on the side run it up and down to center the fabric and install the set screw and KICK BACK AND DRINK A BEER OR TWO OR THEREE. And dream about the summertime, RV shop wanted 175 bucks to do the job it took us about 2 hours because two of the three beers were drank as we worked and it's a non union shop
