I'm looking for info on good full hook up RV sites in or near RMNP. We'll have a group of at least 5, maybe 10+ RV's/trailers, most of which are 32'-38'. We've found some online but when looking at aerials, they don't look as nice as the web pages would have you believe. Planning on July of '18. Any info on sites or must-do's when we're there would be great!

We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Park in AUG 2011. The sites are mainly gravel and wide open and level, we stayed there for 5 nights. I really did not mind the park as we spent most of the time in RMNP or going into Estes Park and were just using this as a base camp. The park did have full hook-ups with 50AMPS and a laundry mat on site, no fire rings if my memory severs me right. But most camp grounds around RMNP do not allow fires that time of year do to forest fire concerns.

Another site we used in 2015 was the Denver East KOA in Strasburg CO. Typical KOA site with full hook-ups and 50AMPS. This was about 100 miles from Estes Park about a two hour drive but we wanted to visit Denver for a couple of days and did just a long day trip for one day.

Have you looked at RV Park Reviews for campgrounds around RMNP?

Good Luck.

We've done the Stasburg KOA (Denver East) twice now now as a base camp and have been very happy with it. Getting anywhere is simple from this KOA since it is right off the Interstate. However, what is with KOA's and train tracks..............?

That is part of being a KOA. I have been to several KOA's and most of them have train tracks as close to 100' or up to a 1/4 mile away. The land must be cheap to buy!

We stayed out on I-25 just South of the Fall River turnoff and drove up to the park daily. It is crowded in the summer and you need to get reservations now to be sure of a spot. bg

Have you considered the Grand Lake side of the park? I have stayed at the Winding River Resort several trips. Not fancy, but full hookup with roomy sites and right at the West gate to the park. Might be too late to get reservations as it is very popular.

Good Luck! Dennis

Forgot to mention I will be there July 2 to 20 this year. Dennis
