fridge on while towing----FIRE

Well, after picking up my fifth wheel from the dealer after he had it for two weeks, I've finally had it. They just don't get it. The trailer is new, they didn't do the simple things they were asked to do, and the the worst part: They managed to gouge up the pin box and bend the metal plate!!!!!!!!!

Show you how careless they really are- the main reason it was in for service was so they could replae the linoleum floor after they cut through it with a knife installing the plastic carpet covers (the ones they use to keep the floor clean while showing it).

FOOLS!

The damage doesn't appear too bad, it looks like they caught it with a forklift tongue while moving it. It scraped the bottom of the pin box and bent out the edge of the metal on the side. Should I make them replace it??

Bummer.

Just a quick plug for the dealer we bought from twice in Denver... Ketelson RV has been great, 5er was spotless with basically zero defects when I picked it up. First class organization.

Good luck with the 5er. You'll love the Jordan controller.

Klenger- I hope to put the Jordan in this weekend. If I have any problems, you all know who I'll turn to!!!:D

The place I bought it from, is a large dealer here in So Cal. It will remain nameless until they have the opportunity to deal with the situation. I was very happy with things for the most part, but there a great deal of flaws in the trailer when it was picked up originally. Things the dealer should have checked for and taken care of long before I took it home. That is the thing that seems to frstrate me the most.

And before anyone starts belching about the quality and workmanship of the Fleetwood Product- I bought this coach KNOWing full well that it was an entry level coach. With 2-3 kids and 4 dogs on every trip, I think I've done well by paying alot less for a trailer I know is going to take a beating. And it still has a lot of the same name brand components that the higher end coaches have.

I think that 99% of my problems stem from a dealer that is not QC their work, and a bunch of careless monkeys doing the work.

I'll keep you all posted on what the outcome of all this ends up. I am well prepared to take legal action should it become necessary- my sister and her husband are both attourneys with their own firms. I would most certainly hope it doesn't get to that.

Kev... i would make them replace it,that's B S. If they there going to have monkey's work on your 5 th'r that's there own damm problem.....

On a better note, how dose the DTT TC/VB pull, still waiting on $$ to do mine.

Hope too see you at the BBQ on the 6th.

Is Fleetwood built by Skyline? I bought an 33' '82 Aljo Aly bumper pull new from Thompson Trailers in Houston TX. Talk about a shoddy dealer and workmanship!

After purchasing it, I pulled it out on the freeway headed south from their parking lot. It pulled with the back ~2' to one side. Later had to pull it to the the factory in Mansfield TX where they cut the spring hangers off and moved them 1 1/2" on one side.

I took it back a week later to get that and some minor stuff fixed. They said too bad so sad. We dropped the line and you need to take it to the new Skyline dealer when they get up and running.

The sides were deeply corrogated. The windows were sealed with 1/4" thick gasket material. It leaked profusely. Ants marched through and never broke stride

When I pulled the tanks off the bottom, it looked like someone had cut the holes for the pipes with a crash ax. A 3" pipe through an 8" ragged hole. One of the gray water pipes missed lining up with the tank by 1/2" or better.

Hey Hutch- I'm gonna jump up and down until they replace it, I'm not having great luck with their service. :(

The DTT pulls real well, although I never pulled with a stock trannie so I can't tell you about before and after performace. If you plan on pulling I would go for the 91%. I still need to take it back to HBD and have them adjust the shift points a bit(maybe when I have them do the throttle cable recall!) But The DTT has been my best BOMB yet.
