Jordin Brake Controller Question

Slidein camper question

What do you use? I just got done on the roof. Washed it yesterday, treated it today.

I dont have the bottles of wash I used near by, so I dont have brand names, but I used "Protect all" on the roof. It was a lot thicker than I thought it would be. Not sure how it will hold up being this is the first TT I've owned that has the rubber roof. It went on OK. The trailer is new, and this is the first application that's been on it. I suppose the next time it'll be a little easier.

It also has the smooth fiberglass sides. What brand wax is the best, longest lasting, and easiest to apply?

TIA

Eric

I use boat wax on my gel coat. 3M makes one with a UV inhibitor in it. It is called 3M Protective Liquid Wax. I bought a gallon of it four years ago. Should last another four years. There sure is a lot of fiberglass on that rig. My arms almost fall off by the time I am done.

Use this stuff to remove any black streaks too. Take em of like magic and leaves a coat of wax to boot. I found the black streak removers too strong for the finish.

I've used Protectal on my 5er and the truck. It's real easy to apply and looks nice. I sure wouldn't want to use a hard paste wax on the 5er that required rubbing it out. It'd take forever and you'd have to start over by the time you finished it.

I use 100% pure brazillian caranauba wax on the truck, but on the fiver, I (once again) agree with Ken that a paste or even cream wax would be trouble some not only to buff out, but to remove from all the nooks and crannies. I have been using an acrylic product called Klasse . A little goes a long way, it goes on like water and wipes off like water. It seems to last about 6 months in the So Cal heat and smog. I wash the rig once a month and apply a UV protectant to the roof about every three months.

I use Walmart products to clean my RV.

Here is the trick, clean the sides first, then move on to the roof! Believe me, it makes a mess to clean the roof first, then the sides.

I don't treat my roof with anything

I wax the fiberglass once per year (it takes all summer to do a piece at a time anyway) with NuCar finish.

What the ? If you clean the side first and then do the roof, isn't that kind of like pi$$ing into the wind?? It's all gonna come back at ya ;).

Clean the roof first. That's where the black streaks come from in the first place.

I see the logic of cleaning the sides first. Once you clean and polish the sides, the crap from the top will wash right off becuase of the polish. Makes sense to me.

I have a 31' 5th wheel. I buy my cleaning products from

Camping World when they're on sale and shipping is $1. 00.

I use Protect All rubber roof cleaner and Protect All rubber

roof preserver. They work better than others I've tried. I also

use 303 on the roof. I use Protect All fiberglass oxidation

remover and color restorer on the front cap to remove bugs.

I wipe down the entire outside, including the tires with 303.

I buy it by the gallon from Camping World when it's on sale.

A gallon lasts a long time. The 303 gives 100% uv protection

and is super easy to apply. Spray on, wipe off. Keeps the

fiberglass looking like new.

I haven't found that to be the case, and you are now washing and drying and cleaning it up twice.

Based on the manufacturer's recommendations, I wouldn't use any petroleum-based products on an EPDM rubber roof. If you want/need specific rubber roof maintenance or repair products, you can go straight to the manufacturer if you wish:

I used 303 on sides and plastic roof pieces, but since France are not only voting against us, but actively plotting and campaignining against us --- I'll be darned if I will give them any more of MY US dollars. Switching over to AMERICAN products.

Are you positive about 303 being manufactured in France?

I've been using it for several years and it has always been

manufactured in ,Palo Cedro, California, which is near

Redding. I just went out and checked the last bottle that

I bought and on the bottle it states that it was manufactured

at,Palo Cedro , Ca. ??

Re: Re: Re: RV manitenance products preference

Thats what I thought, until I tried it.

I guess the dirt is only sitting on the finish to start with. If you wash the roof first, all that detergent runs down the dirty sides and makes the dirt stick even better, plus it streaks real bad.

By Washing the dirt off the sides first, its already clean, so as you wash the roof just keep rinsing the sides as you go.

Somebody else said wash and polish the sides first, All I do is wash the sides first, again the stuff you wash the roof with will act like a solvent and remove the wax you already put on the side.

I do it the same way you do.

Borax

I wet the roof sprinkle out some borax and use a soft bristled car wash brush on the roof.

Zaino on the sides.

1/4 cup Chlorox + 1/4 cup Dawn in 5 GAL of warm water. Scrub awining then roll up, come back a few hours later, scrub then rinse. It works.

Or, get out your wallet and go to Camping World:D

Thanks for all the replys guys.

I used the Protect all on the fiberglass, goes on nice, but I cant say how well it will protect. I do like the way it takes off the dark streaks. :D

I think I'm going to get a coat of wax on it before the summer heat, then use the protect all when it's too hot to do such things the hard way.
