Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) rv pusher 5.9 stalling at lights etc...

my friend just bought a rv its a pusher 5. 9 p pump with a allison transmission. . anyhow he told me it keeps stalling when he slows down too stop at lights, and at toll booths etc... also it seems a little rich at idle..... i only looked at it for 3 mins or so yesterday. . i thought the idle might be too low but it sounded ok , (the tach is not working), and maybe the lift pump was bad , crawled under it and it has a brand new looking lift pump and starter. . so. . i guess the inj pump probably needs a adjustment. . ?. . i haven't finished my p pump conversion yet on my truck so i don't know as much about them yet... so any ideas and tips? i hope can help my friend fix his rv. .

bump the idle up a bit and see if that helps. if not then he probablly needs his fuel pump re-timed, (advanced is always better!)

I agree, try bumping up the idle first. That is usually the culprit for the symptom you are describing.

I agree with Wes and Ryan... bump the idle.



Wait a minute... I wonder if the TCC inside the Allison is remaining locked up when he slows to a stop? That would certainly make it want to stall... .
