What hitch receiver pin lock...class V

2-1/2”to 2”receiver adapter

The RV has been parked since Dec. 2017 while working thru the medical crap. So I decide to give it a Rinseless Wash and Wax. I get down to doing wheels and tires and notice one of the Maxxis load range E tires has the dreaded glaze doughnut look. Went back to the records and installed June 2014. So another little project to Discount tire for a new Goodyear. The bad part is there is another Maxxis on the same side bought a Month later. At least the mileage was 10 to 15k. The usual plenty of tread and seperating routine. The 110-120 temps probably did not help.

Brand new 5th wheel showed up down the street.

"I told you so just Doesn't Cut It!" But I didn't have to say that. I had suggested they immediately remove the China Bombs and get some LT's or the new Goodyear. Wife was like 'it's one trip or new tires'. Even with them reading some online stuff saying the same China Bomb... New RV so you can guess what happened.

$7,000.00 of damage on the first trip from one of the China Bomb's going off. They did fess up and tell me I was right so I didn't have to say it.

I don't feel so bad about replacing the 5 year old LT's on my RV this year due to age alone.

My current trailer came with LT's on it from the factory as part of Jayco's "Baja" package along with upgraded axles, etc. I've always wondered why more aren't delivered that way.

Price, price, price......manufacturers figure the majority of the trailers will go to an RV park and never move......so use the cheapest axles and tires, just enough to get the thing delivered by the transporter.....

Stop and think about how much money they save doing that over a years production run....

Good point.

A couple months ago I put a set of the new Goodyear Endurance tires on my Airstream.

I put a set on my Cougar last spring right after they were introduced. Trip to DC from Maine and back, several more trips to the coast on some bad roads last summer.
This summer a couple more trips to the coast and a trip to central Mass and back.
Looked them over the other day and they are just like new. No flaws so far.

I use the tires off my truck for the trailer and replace them every summer. Then again, I put 60 to 80k a year on the truck, only 5 to 10k a year on the 5er.

Since your RV sits do you have tire covers?

When I bought 5 new 14 ply tires for my tilt deck I bought a cover for the homemade mounted spare, given it sits at roughly a 45 degree angle. Less than 3 years later the weather has completely destroyed my cover.

The frontal area was ripped apart by the wind from going down the road but I think the message is clear here what UV does to materials.
And I am in Ohio no less, low elevation and what not.

That is a seller I wouldn't go back to. My avatar is my spare tire cover. Three years old, sits in the TX sun when not traveling, still looks good.

Yes, have covers, awning and shades on passenger side where the doughnut appeared.JR I never had the spare cover look as bad as yours although I did have a General tire blow up under the spare cover. That was novel to say the least.
GAmes, where did you get the cover ?. Of course mine would need to have a B-52, USAF, SAC etc.

We took delivery of a Laredo 225MK yesterday that has Goodride ST225/75R15D china bombs. Next week it will get a set of Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R15E's. Goodrides will go on CL for 50 each.

This is going to be our snowbird/sunbird commuter, side trip rig. The Bighorn 3575el will be roofed in the next two weeks and remain in our NW park.

OP, replace all four tires with the GY Endurance tires.

When I ordered my toyhauler Sundowner offers the option for Michelin LT tires. I just got a PJ flatbed gooseneck. They had no upgrade other than higher ply rating Chinabomb, so I worked a deal with the dealer to swap all five to LTs for very little difference, and worth every penny.

It deteriorated faster than I expected but again I believe the location played a large factor here. Sits at the front of the trailer facing head on, almost level with the tailgate. The first few times I hauled with it I removed the cover but the trailer gets used enough that got old quick.

I am one of the odd balls out there in the RV land. I am still using my "Westlake ST235/85R16" tires on my Cedar Creek these are 3 years old and I am planning on replacing them next year with another set of Westlake tires. My tires are covered with an individual canvas tire covers and stored on top of a 2X8 board when in storage. I do dress the tries with Meguiar's Vinyl and Rubber M40, product a couple of times a year. I check the tires every time we go out and make sure they are inflated to 110PSI. They usual lose only 4 to 5 PSI over a 6 month period. Everything that I have read about these tires and followed on the Forest River forum there has been very little if any negative reviews on them.

I think our tire dept sells some Westlake Truck Tires, I don’t recall any issues with them.
I’ll ask nest week when I reappear at work....

I just got another used camper. A Flagstaff super light 27BHSS.
It has Loadstar K550 205 75 D14's on it.
The seller just replaced them before selling it.
How are these tires? I'm pretty sure theyre made in china.

I don't tow. Why are trailers equipped with LT tires universally?
I constantly read of ST tires blowing out.
One can only assume it is more profitable to take an inferior tire that doesn't have to meet passenger vehicle standards, label it as "special trailer", and come up with that old canard of, "special sidewalls to minimize sway". It's a load of dung IMHO.
