Big Rig speed limit 68MPH? NHTSA wants it.

I have a Megacab and just found out I have an opportunity to borrow a gooseneck trailer for towing my Jeep at anytime. I am also about to buy a 5th wheel made by Forest River. The manufacture said that it will not void my warranty to use a gooseneck adapter like the RV2. The obvious advantages are that the RV2 has another 9" built into the turning radius and I don't have to get out and mess with a slider. It is cheaper than the Pullrite and is certainly much more versatile.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Will the trailer buck more? I am looking for the good and bad on this option.

Thanks in advance.

Jason

if you haven't purchased a hitch yet ,, check into a B&W goosenck hitch and 5th wheel companion setup,, best of both uses, get an extended hitch pin setup for the fifth wheel if needed

I have some input you may be interested in. my new mega cab just got out of the body shop with the B&W hitch I have a 9" offset on the pin and had to get the 4" offset ball, guess what not enough! the trailer still hit the cab way too easy. if I had to do it all over I think a slider hitch would be the best option.

If the trailer is wide at the nose you're still tight in the corners- especially easy to get in trouble while reversing. I had a 38' Work and play and would'nt conceive of running it without the superglide. I'll be selling a used SG soon and it will be priced to go.

Get it in writing from the manufacturer!

Not sure who made the frame and pinbox on your trailer(s) but Lippert Industries is one of the largest suppliers of OEM pinboxes for 5th wheels. They told me that use of the gooseneck adapter will void their warranty.

KSears has the right idea. Go with the gooseneck hitch and the B&W Companion. This combo has worked very well for me.
