Yesterday, while I was in Showlow, I saw a nasty sight! This S-10, towing a heavy duty, homemade, tandem axle gooseneck trailer, with some junk on it. That in itself was bad, however when he passed by me I saw that the hitch was hooked to the bumper! The power cord was just hanging and the hitch was on the right side hole in the bumper itself. It wouldn't surprise me if the ball was only 2" also. That's one of the reasons we get static when we haul heavy :{ His bumper was about 10" off the ground and front almost air born.

WOW..... That beats the voyager mini van I saw the other day. It was pulling a 18' bumper hitch car trailer, with scrap iron stacked on it as tall as the van. The front suspension was completely unloaded and the rear was on the ground. He took off an ran 45 mph down the highway like this!!

I think we all have a story like this. Last fall I saw a S-10 with a tandem axle bumper hitch trailer attached. It had Two 1100 gallon tankes Nearly full of some kind of fluid in them I am guessing it was water. Every time the water would splash forward, the front wheels would clear the road!

Needless to say, I did not pass him. Just stayed right behind him, where it is safest. :-laf

Scariest one I saw was a 1500 ford van towing a camper around 35' long. That part was bad enough, but he did not have an equalizer hitch! The front of the A frame hitch was hitting the road at times. He was on 95 in VA running around 60 in the Right lane and it was raining. I was next to him, passing when he turned the wheels to get off at a rest stop. He turned the wheels but the van kept going straight! He ended up on the grass between the off ramp and the highway. I wanted to go back and smack some sense into him before he killed someone :-{} . He was from out of state and probably was on his way back from Disneyworld. I bet he still don't know why he ran off the road and hit that sign post

Almost as scary is all the small SUV's we see towing campers with no additional mirrors. How can they safely get onto a highway without hitting anybody?

the same way most all the other idiots do... . turn on yer signal and just move over... . no one will be there of course, because it's the law that if yoru turn signal is on, you have the right of way, no matter what.

A newer S10 properly setup could haul a 20 foot lowboy gooseneck with not much on it... but it could do it. It doesn't sound like this guy was "doing it right" though. :--)

Provided they let it blink 3 times before moving over! :-laf

I think the last one I saw was a Ford Explorer with a 26 or 27 footer, but he had already lost it and flipped it on its side.
