S&B or Volant

I am trying to decide between the S&B intake or the Volant. I am looking at those due to the fact that they are fully enclosed. Anyone have experience with either of these?



I am also adding the Edge with Juice and the MBRP cat back exhaust.

I have the S&B set up. The S&B reuses your factory elbo at the turbo. I like it. I've been using it with the AEM dryflow filter (Dry no oil) and it has worked great. Both use the oiled filter. I have no experience with volant. For about $25 you can go to home depot and add a cold air kit to either system. Oo.

I don't know what you plan on doing with the truck, but if you plan on future upgrades..... you'll need a air intake that flows 1000cfm. I had a volant & was told that they only flow 700cfm. It was a nice unit, but I like the sound of the engine with the AFE stage 2 better..... it seems to breath much better. Just don't get the oiled filter & you'll be good..... Just sharing my experiences... hope this helps.

I would stick with the Afe..... when I had my volant... . I kept the lid off because the truck seemed to run better without the lid. I got rid of the volant filter because I got tired of the oil getting everywhere.

get the s&b intake, not a bad piece. i bought the original for my truck. they later on replaced it with a new model. they told me since i had purchased the original model, they would send me the new model for $75. 00! it is a nice piece. their customer service is awsome. as to the edge, do yourself another favor and get something else. i have been following the edge threads and i cant believe that people are happy with the egt's produced from it. what a joke! i cannot believe that edge; with all their R&D they cant figure out how to run it cooler? i run a stack with dr. performance predator IV w/ a PPE excelerator. i bought the module off ebay for $150. 00. the ppe can be bought for $550. 00. no adjustability but you dont need it! i occasionally pull a trailer (7000lbs. ) and my egt. 's are still shy of what the others guys are showing, thats with not changing the settings. i run on the second highest level (ppe), producing over 425hp, 750tq w/ 1350 egt's max. thats when i lay on it till i'm seeing 110mph. plus i am gaining about 3 mpg!

I Have owned both kits in the past. they are both nice intakes the s&b is a little less flashy than the volant but it cost less. it really comes down to what you like in looks and how much cash you got I love the afe but i like a fully enclosed box myself and afe makes one but its high . i Like my banks alot But i thought it was to much when i bought it but i have tryed them all and wanted some thing different.

But is it really a box? The pic looks more like a standard aftermarket system with a little more heat shielding.

Sorry... didn't catch that you wanted a sealed system, it's a fantastic set-up, but not sealed.
