Faster Fill-ups...Shorten the Breather Hose?

Is there a 16" rim that fits these trucks (2500)?

I'm confused. Local shop advises that duals on the 555 will "decrease performance"? Has anyone seen this? I'm leaning toware the ATS SS duals with the 24" tips. They are spendy. Anyone else running another brand? Can you keep you spare tire? Is there a better deal than the ATS? thanks, Doc:confused:

Ha ha ha ha

Well Doc, you might ask if your exhaust shop is speaking from experience, or if they have gasser physics on the brain and assume 2 big pipes will kill your bottom end.

I'm running a dual 4" DPPI system, which might be the same as a MBRP system these days. . I'm still not sure on that one.

As far as performance, theoretically I can see it being a decrease. Seems to me like doubling the pipe size part way down the exhaust pipe might cause the gases to slow down, causing backpressure. But the same would be true of dual stacks. I'm no expert on the matter, so I may be wrong.

Regardless, the seat-of-the-pants-o-meter tells me my truck picked up a little with the dual exhaust, and it sure sounds great. Mine does fit with a BFG 315 spare, so a stock spare would fit easily. There are pics in the link in my signature.

Doc- saw a '03+ at May Madness with the ATS set-up. Patriot blue with all that SS looked REALLY good. Sounded good too! Kind of like a large glasspack. Definately got my intrest tweaked. Wife even okayed further investigation. Haven't told her the price yet. :) Per Jerry Jardine- on a diesel, you can dump the exhaust right out of the turbo and gain efficiency. It's done all it's work and having restrictions in pipes only decreases efficiency. Hope I paraphrased correctly.

Back in 1970 I spent 6 months in I. F. riding green lizards out into the desert (S1W). Need to get back there again. Sure was pretty.

David, do you have a site for the DPPI? How much do they run and how long of a tip? Thanks, Doc

Here is their web site:

I paid $779 for their T-409 system (muffler, hangers, and tip are T-304 though), and I believe that price is still current.

The tips are 5" diameter, and I am not sure how long. . 12-18" I think. I wouldn't want anything longer. Mark Craig here in the forums is from DPPI and is the man to talk to. .
