Head Gasket Questions

So my twins are driveable now and am liking them alot, great sound!! :) My question is for you guys running an external wastegate how did you run your hoses to it? I am running a 38mm Tial and have the unregulated pressure going to the bottom and the regulated air to the top. The wastegate is supposed to have th 20. xx psi spring in it. Also what seems to be the best setting on the pressure regulator for maximum EGT reduction? I havent installed my studs yet so I havent taken it over 40-45 psi yet. Thanks for any input that you may have.

Also, should I hook up the line to the internal wastegate of the HTB2? I was thinking that wasnt neccesary but am not sure.

You could run the the waste gate on the htb2 aswell but with a exteranal it's probably not not going to make a huge change, but it may drop some egt's at WOT. 20 psi sounds good, I may like to try a little higher maybe 25 psi to for the external to open, since one you exceed about 25-30 psi the the ht3b does most the work( since the smaller turbo is the spooling aid ). I have my blow off valves set at 60 psi for dailly use. I am by no means an expert on twins, so I would suggest playing with it a little, try some different springs and different settings until they run the way you like.

hey patrick, here's my dyno sheet from this weekend. you can see a little dip just before peak torque. i could feel it on the street, too. i'm not running an external gate yet, so that's just the internal opening at the loosest i could get it, about 18-20 psi. after those runs i tightened it up some but was too late to get back on the rollers. i did however notice a drivability difference. definitely smoother power curve. anyway, glad to hear your progress. it sure is fun driving, eh?

It is great to drive!! I LOVE the sound  especially when I only had the 5" elbow off the turbo. As far as EGT's to boost I got out last night and played a bit with the wastegate on the HTB2 hooked up (stock 38psi setting) I was running 39psi at about 1200 degrees tops on a zero to 85 mph run with the comp on 3x3 and the stage 3 injectors, no water meth. So I was happy but would love to get it dialed in to not exceed 1000-1100 degrees on level 3. I am most likely going to be getting a Catcher ECM from one of our members so I may have to get away from the Edge Comp and go to a TST since the Catcher is the original program. Dont want to much timing since I am not oringed yet and I havent even gotten my studs in yet. Thanks for the info and keep it coming!!!

do you have a boost gauge hooked up between the turbos, patrick? if you do i would like to know how the two boost gauges relate. like when it comes on and what not. i noticed tonight that at about 20 psi manifold, the big ones pushin 5 psi. on a wot throttle run, it seems to kick in at about 23-25 psi manifold, and shoot to about 27 or 28 psi. i know we have very different set-ups, but i'm thinking i will need to change the bottom turbo out pretty soon (got more fuel coming). thanks

Gee, nice numbers Swank. Is your small turbo, you modded H1C? If so, I might be able to use it. I'll talk to you when I get off this nightshift schedule.

that is my top turbo. i don't think i'll be changing that any time soon though. i got the smaller version of the bottom turbo which i think might be too small when i add the fuel. right now with 50 psi of boost, i'm getting 60 psi of drive pressure. i don't know though, maybe just an external wg will solve that problem.
