uncorking the truck

Think I've had enough of a leaky CAD vacuum motor. I have been researching the 4X4Posilock cable locker but no one near me has installed one. It looks like the engage/disengage switch on the OEM axle flange is replaced by a bushing to allow the shifter rod on the cable a 'run out'. Does the kit have a way to retain the engage light function, or has anyone found another way? I know I should just know when the fork is shifted in/out BUT…

the engage light is on when the cable has the front axle shafts locked together weather the t-case is in or out of 4wd.

the 4x4 posi-lok is a good device and worth doing. i had one on my 98. 5 and it worked well. ya just gotta get the hang of engaging it properly. make sure ya pull it that last little bit for positive engagment. also 'unload' the pressure on the axleshafts b4 locking/unlocking. dont engage with pressure on em so splines dont match. ya know what im sayin.

i liked not having to worry bout the vacumn disconect and enjoyed the 2wd low feature of this

I just put one on my 96 about a month ago. When you pull the cable, the light goes on regardless of the position the transfer case lever is in. It looks like it should work nicely and seems very well made. I should have done it sooner and saved myself quite a bit of cash due to having the CAD not engage properly thus trashing the T-Case...

I put one on a year ago. I got tired of no 4x4 when below 20 degrees. It works for me very well, I do alot of trailer pulling in tight spots, low 2 WD works like a charm.

Can you still do a shift on the fly and hiway speed, that is pull the Transfer case into 4Hi and they pull the Posi-lok cable? SNOKING

You can not Pull the cable- engage front while axle moving, But the transfer case you can shift on the fly ( as long as the front axle cable is engauged)

According to the Posi-Lok instructions, you can shift the transfer case into 4X4 and then pull the cable to engage the front axle - all while moving. I've never tried it. I just lock the front axle in when I get in the truck - just like if I had locking hubs.
