just got my new pdrhx 35x12 turbo w/g at 35 psi with afe stage 2 air filter installed. going thru the break in period keeping it under 20 psi boost. i noticed the egt's are about 800 degrees at 70 mph with 10 psi boost. is it normal ,used to be about 650-700 with 15 psi boost also the egts go up faster while accelerating. it tops out at 1200 degrees but i haven't pushed it real hard to 35 psi boost or towed with it yet. used to have a hy35-9,28 psi will this combo help my egt 's while towing? thanks ken

Sounds right to me. You will have higher EGT's at cruise because of the larger housing ( 9 vs 12 ). If you pull something under power then the HX should out perform the HY. Full throttle for extended periods ( 1/4 mile ) and the HX should have lower overall EGT's. When you finally hit full boost you will see lower EGT's as well. Keep turbo under 35lbs boost and it will have a long life and will stay within its performance map.

Ditto-- those numbers are EXACTLY what I see with a stock hx-35/12

The housing size explains the difference entirely.

Hey kluther I'm in Camarillo and I have the PDR Hx35 14 and that is about the same numbers I am running. I use to get 35psi with my Hy. At 70mph, 600egt and 12psi boost, with the HY. Now HX 70mph, 800egt, and 6-8psi boost. My HX only gave me 20psi max when I got it but I changed the boost elbow, now I can bring it up to about 33psi on the grade. But now when I get on it I can't bring the egt's up as high as with the HY, that is where the difference is. You will also tell the difference under a load. I was also confused at first but got it all figured out. More space to fill more air. I would check your intercooler hoses and system for boost leaks, I made a tester for mine and found leaks everywhere, especially around the lower intercooler hoses, the clamps were real loose. I just ordered the new kit from PDR to replace these crappy stock ones. Good luck, later... ..... :D
