The dyno numbers are in, and although just a wee bit under expectation still I'm pleased. Test was done Saturday morning at Scheid Diesels' Diesel Extravaganza 2001. Test was done in 4th gear, 2,100 rpm, 950*egt, 28. 5 lbs.

207hp

612lb-ft

Like I was sayin' am a little confused with the hp. I'm gettin' 28 lbs of boost, so isn't that around 280hp at the flywheel? If so where is the other 50or so hp that should be at my rear wheels? Last year I had 19lbs of boost and 170hp, thats only around 20 hp lost through that drive line.

Anyway I gained roughly 40hp, and 150lb-ft from last year since the addition of the 'Ol Blue Specials. A modest gain, but I am very satisified. (I guess that I'm only a half-way BOMBer!)

Anyway, saw a lot of good looking trucks, had a good time and picked up some toys.

Maintenance items (Fleetguard filters, best prices that I've found yet) and a nice new BD Exhaust Brake. Had to order a part that I forgot about at the rally (downpipe), but when it comes I'll start the install. I'll keep ya all posted on the results. Anyone have any pointers on the install, they are always welcomed:)

Those numbers are low. My EGT's are higher by only 50* but my boost numbers are lower by 4-5 psi. I have a similar set-up and my 1/4 speed indicates 260 hp at the wheels. I believe that 2100 RPM is low. My plate on the engine states 160 hp at 2500 RPM. You may want to have it reved higher.

RPM

Hey Matt S, thanks for the reply, I think it was running about 2100RPM, when he let off. I was sitting in the passenger's seat durning the test, but I think that I was watching the EGT, and boost gauge more than the tach. Anyway my seat-of-the-pants dyno tells me that I have WAY more power than I used to :D

Another good note, on the way back to St. Louis from the rally in Terre Haute, I took the scenic route, set the cruise @60mph, and turned in at 21MPG. Its just so hard to shoot for economy when the truck runs and sounds so good at full throttle runs!:D :D

Diesel Man,

best i can remeber you're chris hughes, the one with the super nice dually???? Sounds like you had fun at the rally, I could not make it this year... . too busy here working. I am planning to build a new shop so i can have a showroom/sales floor in it. I think that is pretty impressive if you gained 150 ft;lbs. of torque with injector upgrade. I really like the Ol Blue Specials. Does your truck throw black smoke out that masssive stack now??? By the way, what were the t shirts like this year?? I'd like to have a couple of them.

Excellent Extravaganza

Hey Big Don, sorry you couldn't make the rally, sounds like your busy at the shop. Someday I'd like to visit the shop that makes Diesel's run like banshees. Actually the shirts were like last years except that they are black in color, like your exhaust! My stack doesn't smoke too much since I turned down the smoke screw. Anyway, there were a lot of trucks this year and quite a few like mine with big, shiny, chrome stacks! Back to the dyno numbers, do you think that my truck is making more than 207hp at the wheels if the Cummins is cranking out 28psi? Anyway, like I said before, I actually turned my pump down when the 'Ol Blues went in. I guess that someday I could go wild and turn the screw up and see if I couldn't beat the 38psi that Cumminzpower makes!:D

When I got off of the dyno another first gen. went up, '92 or '93 I'd say, and he cranked out something like 300hp, and 700lb-ft. Unfortunally I never caught up with him to chat.

Needless to say, the 'Ol Blue Specials are the Hot, Hot, Hot, ticket for a first gen Cummins. :D
