are any of the 2nd gen trucks running into drain tube clearance problems when installing these turbo's?

just wondering if there is a market for a quality drain tube conversion. AN fittings steel braided lines, etc

i am going to build a set up for my truck cuz as you can see in the pic below there was major interference

does a 3rd gen drain tube have to be modified to clear the waste gate actuator?

thanks, don

when i had my BD turbo i had a clearance prob. But my shiny new HTT addressed the situation w a nice flex pipe and rubber .

yep, same problem on mine. i heated and bent it. I don't think it was quite as much as you did though.

i heated it and tried to bend it over (the whole tube) but couldnt hold the flange tight enough without fear of destroying it. didnt want to have to cave the tube in that much but that is what it took to get clearance for the adj nut that they welded on the actuator rod.

was thinking that if they all came this way maybe there would be others interested in a nice drain system

htt found a solution, huh?

does it also line up the bottom of the drain tube with the tube that is pressed into the motor? mine is off a good inch down there too...

i take it htt found this solution in the last 10 days, right?

thanks, don

going by the photo ,I'd slot the actuator mounts and slide it out of the way before denting the return as excessive pressure blows the turbo oil seals.

its got to be redone - i understand this

i was told that the 24v motors that went in our trucks got a different drain tube and that it gives clearance in this area

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE PART NUMBER FOR TH2 24V DRAIN TUBE?

thanks don

Based on similar problems I'd read about on the TDR, I asked II about this specifically earlier this week when getting a turbo recommendation from them and they told me that their design will allow the clearance without bending the tube. I hope they're right.

BTW -- they recommended something called a "Super 62" which is a PhatShaft62 with larger turbine drive wheel. Anyone running it?

Tim

I had to custom shape the tube when I put the BD spuer B on also. But with my Silver 62 is has a lot of clearance.

I've never used any BD turbos, but I've installed II turbos & 5 different HTT turbos & never had a clearance issue. I was always able to clock the compressor housings enough to clear the tube. By clocking I mean loosening the flange bolts & turning it until it clears the tube.

thanks for the info allen

i think ind inj uses a different bracket or slots the holes before they mount the actuator = more clearance

edit - just checked the site and it looks like both of the drain tubes that come in that kit are incorporated into some sort of turbo mount. i still think there ought to be a good drain set up for s300 singles made available. but it sounds like i am the only one that believes this... don
