CARFAX - Can someone run a number for me?

I am saddened to say that my grandson's cancer is back and will most likely win this round. The chemo, radiation and stem cell seemed to have worked. He made progress through the spring and summer and even was allowed to return to school with certain limitations on activities. Suddenly and almost one year from the date he was first diagnosed, he started having problems and was diagnosed with cancer in his hips and spine. There is not much modern medicine can do for him now although they are trying.

I first posted on this Oct 4, 2002 and asked for prayers for him. Many members did that and more for which his family is eternally grateful. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57228&highlight=Justin

I would like to make another request. His father has posted his hospital room address for cards. A simple card making note that the sender is a TDR member would be great. Bear in mind that this eleven year old kid is no dummy. I believe he knows he is going to die but is being strong for his father. His father has been by his side throughout this as his mother is just not savvy enough.

Cards and letters can be mailed to Justin at:

Vermont Children's Hospital, FAHC

Baird 5, Room #522 ATTN: Justin Evans

Pediatric Oncology 2304

Medical Center Campus

111 Colchester Avenue

Burlington, VT 05401

You can see an intimate portrait of this here. Thanks again.

your Grandson will be in our prayers also...

I wish that there was something that we could do that would turn this around. . however God will decide what is best.

a card will be out in the next couple days from my wife and I

QRTRHRS--just finished reading the link and am sitting here in tears. Justin and your whole family are in our prayers and i am going to have them put on the prayer list at church. our whole congregation will be praying for them (over 3000 souls). i am absolutely speechless...

Justin will definitely be in my prayers!

Is there anything that he especially likes? Maybe I, or we can send him something to occupy his time and take his mind off his condition.

The family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I was just talking to my wife about Justin the other day when I was scrolling through my favorite links and clicked on it to see how he was doing. We will have a card out today. Again I am terrible sorry to hear this, but anything is possible... .

He will be in my prayers. Don't let him give up the fight. The mind is a powerful thing, and I believe that once someone gives up in their mind, they have lost the fight. I cannot imagine how hard this must be, but try to keep his spirit up.

I too will say a prayer for you and your family. Keep the faith, and remember that God is doing this for a reason. He will not forsake any of us, and will be there by your side to help you out. This brings to mind the saying that "If God can bring you to it, then He surely will see you through it. " Good luck and God's speed.

Respectfully,

Brian [><]

We are with you!!!

Please tell little buddy to get better. Hang in there tough guy!

Give him a heads up from Mike, Marie and our Little 4 month old little buddy Mitchel.

Oo.

I'm not too outwardly religious a preson, but I'll pray for him, and tell my boss about it- he is looking to start preaching the Word after he retires in a few years- and see if he'll send it on to his pastor to add to their congregation's prayer list. I'll also get a card in the mail Friday.

Good luck and Godspeed.

Daniel

I am very sorry to hear this about your grandson. This is unfortunate that this sickness has to happen to any one, especially a kid. I know times like this can be a tremendous strain on the entire family, but keep your faith in GOD! MIRACLES DO HAPPEN. Justin and the whole family will be in our prayers. Tony Tallant

I think just a card is more appropriate. The hospital provides far more entertainment then he can handle right now. What with the chemo being started again and other drugs, he is on a roller coaster with his moods and all.

My wife told me he enjoyed reading emails today that some of the TDR folks sent already.

After the bone marrow test was done and it was found out that he was sick again, he said this to Steve, his father. He said that he knew before the test that the cancer was back and that they would fight it together just like before. Steve about choked on that, fighting back the tears.

Everyone is praying for that miracle to happen. Still we are bracing ourselves by looking beyond. Thanks again.

I am at a loss for words...

I understand what you are going thru, having lost a sister to cancer at the young age of 18. Please accept our wishes for good life and good health. It aint over till the fat lady sings. Keep the good fight going. May G-d be with all of you in these trying times.

Just reading this and reflecting on how important our own grandson is to us I just can't imagine how difficult it must be for all of you. Please know that Justin will be in our prayers for sure.

qrtrhrs-

My wife was an RN on the oncology floor for UCSF for over 12-years and she has seen many remarkable recoveries! Keep praying as our thoughts are with you.

It saddens me that Justin has taken a turn for the worse. I wish there was something I could say that would make it better. I was talking to my sister the other day, who has stage 4 Lymphoma and she thought it was odd that it seemed like everyone you know has been touched by cancer, through either a family member or a close friend. I have lost 2 good friends to cancer in the last 12 months and my sister was diagnosed just a few months ago. I hope and pray that Justin will be cured and live a long and happy life.
