Time for a new oil article and chart

AAM 11.5” Anti-Slip Rearend fluid change

The local rep not having a minimum order may be true if you're within driving distance,

As far as my mind being made up - I go through several thousand gallons of oil/additives every year, and Schaeffers just doesn't cut it in extreme climates for me.

Did you miss the part where I mentioned I like their SoyShield?

Or did you deduce I have "other reasons" in your mention?

Heck, I'd choose WalMart SuperTech above Schaeffer's 5w40 series 9000.

We good?

If you go through several thousand gallons a year why are you concerned about minimum shipping orders? If buying bulk (drums) the costs drop significantly, but if no local rep that can be difficult. I said what I said because you claim to give a bunch away for the simple fact it appeared to register slower on an oil pressure gauge. That's just not very scientific unless you can make repeatable results, two engines side by side, same ambient temps, equal cold soak to Even be able to accurately make your statement. Even then you would need alot more to prove that one is "better" than the other besides an oil pressure reading. Like I said, it seems as though your mind was made up before you even used it. We all like what we like. No big deal eh?
Im not picking you apart - we are good as far as im concerned. I honestly don't care what anyone uses. But you are contradictive - and a bit confusing- in some of your statements.

I'm not concerned with minimum shipping/orders - that comment was meant for the gent above.

I get the best prices & service from Shell/PetroCanada for commercial use.

For personal use I prefer Amsoil.

Just like 6.7 Powertrokes are the best commercial purchases for me, and the 12v tickles my personal fancy ;-)

Not having oil pressure with the Schaeffer's 5w40 rise up as quick, compared to the synthetic Amsoil 15w40 I used in the same engine on the previous day in winter, both cold starts without being plugged in, was plenty scientific to me :)

As I recall, I did a UOA on the Schaeffer's 5w40, it was OK, not shabby, but nothing exceptional either. Iron on two back to back changes were higher than anything else I've used, and that includes 5w30 HDD.

Having a local Schaeffer's rep 400 mile away with a less than stellar work ethic doesn't make their case either.

I'll mark Schaeffer's down as the middle child, kinda like a lazy Duramax, firmly in between a fun, out of warranty 12v Cummins & a well supported Powerstroke from a compliant dealership. I don't think I have ever lifted the hood on a Powerstroke; well, ok, once on a friend's truck, but I lost interest when I couldn't see the turbo. Kinda like Schaeffer's; I lost interest after hearing "Micron Moly" & "Penetro" do things like "plate the surfaces" and "embed the metal" so the "mechanical oil pressure gauge can't keep up with what's happening on a chemical level".

03 Cummins 15w40 shell rotella T conventional oil year round!! Get a webasto diesel fuel fired coolant heater for the cooler temps and keep that 15w40 in that engine. 314000 kms and running clean and strong.
