Hey guys, and the occasional unicorn women,

Anyone know if it's safe to drive around with the pillars and head liner out? I'm working on Installing some cab lights as my truck never had them. I wanted to be able to start taking stuff off and still drive the truck if needed.

It's noisie, I drove mine around for a few months with out head liner, side panels, just installed the seat belts and drove it.

Lol awesome sounds good. I only plan for it to be about a week. Bigger trick is going to be getting the dang thing out of my truck once everything is off lol.

I found a really nice strobe harness I'll be wiring these lights to so I can run them when I want and they will be able to strobe slow of fast when I need them too.

Are you sure that there is enough room to get that headliner out??

Not saying there isn't but I am willing to bet it's gonna be tight. Maybe if you recline both front seats and have a couple of helpers....

I've read that if i removed the back seats I can get it out which I am sure that I do it easily. Although since plans have changed for this week I am able to just leave the truck sitting. I will take pictures before and after and try to remember to take some during to help others out.

That may give enough room for you to swing it in there and get it out through the rear door.
Look forward to pictures...

That would be awesome. Thanks!

So, you're going to connect your clearance lights to be able to Strobe?

Have a link or something to that harness you're referring to?

If you were talking about sealant to use around the clearance lights, I would not use either. Go to a body shop supply store. They will have some 3M sealer. It is a non-hardening sealer that stays gooie.

That's funny you mention that. I stopped by my local Elliot's hardware and found exactly what you are talking about. I was about to call a body shop but figured I bet they have it and bingo!!!! Thank you for the idea.

Easier way... I had my glass guy remove my windshield in the morning then come back & put a new one back in that eve. It was time for a replacement anyway. Gave me perfect access without so much as dropping the front of the headliner. You could have that done for under 200 bucks. Could probably have someone remove and reinstall for $50.

Think I'm going to just drop the liner enough to get room. I found a guy on eBay that makes stencils so I bought one so I have exact spots to drill and sizes I'm supposed to drill. Should go quick and I'll try to remember to take pictures of how I rig my lights up.

Does anyone think that using add a fuse on each of the 5 lights in addition to the harness is a bad thing? I know it'll add more resistance to the system but would it be Overkill?

I wonder what those pillar air bags would do upon deployment in an accident without the covers installed? They are designed to control the deployment I believe. Might want to have them on even if your liner is dropped? On my liner there was velcro that held it up, maybe you can use that if you have it.
