The wife has been shopping for a new ride and she has found a 2006 3/4T 4x4 Laramie the she likes. The truck was made in Fenton, Missouri. My question is: Has there been a difference in the trucks made in Saltillo, Mexico as compared to the ones made in Fenton, Missouri? My truck was made in Mexico and I have not had any problems with it other than the seals on the doors.

A few years ago there was a problem wit the paint jobs on trucks that came from mexico. Put other than that I don't think so. My truck was built in mexico and it has been fine.

I was told they use a better paint in Mexico on the trucks that is not allowed to be used in the US because of EPA rules.

My truck was made in Mexico, also. Fit & finish is fine, as far as I can tell.

I was told that because of much cheaper labor costs, they were able to put many more "inspectors" in the manufacturing process, to make sure everything was done correctly. This was done to make sure that none of the Mexican-made trucks developed a reputation for poor quality.

I have no way of knowing whether this is true, or not.

Maybe you are right. But a few years ago some mexico trucks did have paint problems. Even off the truck the paint was flacking and dc bought them back

the truck i test drove prior to buying the one i have, both made in mexico, the speedo didnt work. the onei bought didnt have the right mirrors as the build sheet stated...

other than that, nothing to complain about. mirrors were fixed.

I think both places probably make good trucks. Sometimes it depends on the day of the week and the individual worker. That being said, I've heard (can't confirm) that they are non-union in Mexico and if they don't do quality work they can be fired. True or not, my '05 made in Mexico was very well assembled and I've never had a problem with it yet.

Mine also was made in Mexico. A few months after purchase I got a letter from PPG and DC stating that my paint warranty was extended to 100k miles because there were problems with the patriot blue not properly adhering to the primer coat.

I've not had any paint problems yet.

Pretty much everyone here's trucks are from Mexico. They don't make CRDs (or Power Wagons) in Fenton. So, the truck your wife is looking at must be a Hemi. (The Fenton plant is about 1/2 mile from my house as the crow flies).

Because all MegaCabs are from Saltillo, some Quad Cab diesel production has been moved to Fenton for the 06 model year.

My 03 and 04 trucks were made in Mexico. My 06 is a Missouri truck and I do not see any difference. All three are perfect. The 03 and 04 were solid as a rock with no fit and finish problems and never recall any squeaks or rattles. So far the 06 is going just like the other two. Only have 5000 miles so far but I drive them all like their yours and never had any problems.
