While changing the ff in my truck, i noticed some sand in the bottom of the filter housing. I think i need to drop the tank and clean it out. I have read a bunch of posts on this subject, but am not sure how to get all this stuff out of the tank.

Any suggestions/experience would be appericiated. I have noticed small amounts of sand when cleaning the filter housing a time or 2 before, the truck came from florida before i owned it. Now i wonder how much junk is in the tank.

Also any pointers how to get those clips off the tank fuel module without bustin them .

When I chang my filter there's a bit of dirt/small rocks. I just clean it out with brake clean and put it back together.

You can expect to see a little sand. I wouldn't worry too much about it, that's what your fuel filter is for. Now if get a lot, then I'd worry about cleaning out the tank. Always try to get fuel at a newer service station and one that turns there fuel over very often. They are less likely to have sand in there underground tanks or worse yet, water in the fuel.

I was kinda concerned, had about 1/2 a thimble full in the filter housing this time. I think if that much make it through the lp there must be a bunch in the tank. I looked yesterday at droping the tank, but couldnt see to get the fuel lines off the module, sent a pm to chris stewart, havent heard back from him yet. I would like to change the top of the fuel module, but dont want to bust the lines and be screwed into having to hay bag this and have to do it again. Is it easier to pull the bed, but than how can you clean out the tank with it level? I make some of my own fuel, and filter it to 2 microns absolute, but it doesnt do any good if my tank is full of bolders/junk.

Still lookin for suggestions.

Well i pulled the bed and emptied the tank. It had very little Junk in it.

However i did notice the 3 screws that hold the metal to the plastic,(top and bottom that moves up and down) on the module, had eaten away part of the metal, and the screw heads were almost able to pop out. I just redrilled new holes in the plastic and relocated the screws. Now it is secure, and the screws are sliding in "new metal".
