I want to thank those who replied to my earlier posts, A lot of experience and good advice.
I had the common oil leak at the vacuum pump and was quoted $1200 from a local shop to replace the pump.
I called Mr Gould who convinced me to do it myself and I ordered his seal kit and video. He even went as far as telling me if it leaked after I rebuilt it to send it to him and he would rebuild it for his very fair price, And he would refund the cost of the kit. Great customer service.
I had access to an indoor shop where I was able to leave the truck and spent a few hours at a time working on it over a couple of weeks.
I also pulled and cleaned the radiator, replaced hoses, serpentine belt, idler pulley and thermostat. I was going to replace the water pump but after reading up it sounds like the stock Cummins is good quality and at 49k mi mine isn't leaking so I left it and will keep the new Gates for a spare.
I probably spent around 15 hrs taking my time for everything including a lot of cleaning.
The pump rebuild was straight forward and if you do it just follow Goulds video and pointers.
I removed the vacuum and power steering pump as a unit and it worked well for me.
I got it all buttoned up tonight and it runs like a top and not a drop of any fluid leaking!!
Also want to give a thumbs up for Genos for getting everything shipped in about a week.
Next I'm installing the trans Fass coolers, tow mirrors and new turbo back exhaust as the original was shot.
I may wait on the exhaust after I decide if I want to install an exhaust brake.
Then, maybe a good quality full paint job.
Really like this old girl.
