I stopped by the local stealer today to price a hood insulation liner. Sitting there on a lift was a 2000 with the motor hanging out in front of it. I saw the head laying on the floor but it was valves up so I could not see anything. Walked around and looked at the top of the block, #6 piston was really damaged. Having just saw the picture on this site somebody posted of a #6 that melted I thought that was it, but it also had the crown busted up. Asked one of the mechanics that was working near it what happened.
He said the owner came in thinking it needed a pump because it had a miss, but the engine also had some noise in it. Seems one of the #6 valve springs broke, letting the valve dance on top of the piston
He said it had 92K miles on it, has been run hard, but was un-modified. Dodge is putting a long block in it
