i'll bet all the new freightliners are going to have the merc diesel under the hoods, same company now ya know...
but, that mbe 906 engine looks like it has some potential... 6. 37 liter displacment [386. 9ci] up to 300hp/860trq but kinda heavy @ 1168lbs... but it has the wrong number of valves by both the 12v and 24v guys, this pup is 18valve
The Mercedes engine is in the new M2 Business class Freightliner. The M2 will replace the FL series by the end of this year.
Mercedes has 2 motor options the MBE 900 and the MBE 4000. I believe the size blocks used are a 4. 3 liter and a 6. 4 liter for the MBE 900. (hp 170-280) The MBE 4000 is a 12. 7 liter. (hp 350-450) the 6. 4 liter and the 12. 7 liter are straight 6's. The 4. 3 liter is a 4 cylinder.
Right now the Freightliner M2 is offered with the mercedes as well as the Caterpillar. (Cat 3126/c7, c9, c11, c13) When the FL series is Discontinued the M2 will be offered with a Cummins (ISC, ISL, unsure about the ISB) and possibly a Detroit as well.
No I don't sell these trucks I've been in the market looking and am seriously considering an M2 to replace an aging delivery truck. I told them I wanted to wait for a Cummins They said not till spring.
